Karachi board issues statement regarding matric exams

KARACHI: Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Thursday announced that the SSC part II exams will be held today as per scheduled, ARY News reported.

According to the BSEK, the SSC part II English exam will be held in the morning, while Computer Science and Physiology exam will be held in the afternoon shift.

Exam superintendent Habibullah Shag and secretary matric board will visit different examination centers, meanwhile, the morning exam will start after 9:30am and the afternoon exam will start after 2:30pm.

According to the exam superintendent, despite strict instructions, at least 28 students were caught cheating and using mobile phones during the exams which was confiscated by the invigilators.

He further revealed that the some cases of people found giving exams on others behalf have also been reported. All cases have been referred to the High Powered Vigilance Committee, and all the candidates will be summoned to the board office after the exams.

On the other hand, Punjab education board has cancelled two more examination papers of ninth grade to deteriorated law and situation in the province after PTI chief Imran Khan’s arrest.

The Punjab education board cancelled two more examination papers of Class 9 which were scheduled for May 11 and 12. The board officials said that Chemistry and Islamiat papers were scheduled for May 11 and 12 respectively which were postponed till further orders.

In a relevant development, Pakistan Education Council announced the closure of all private schools due to the ongoing political unrest.

The private schools in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Islamabad will remain closed on Thursday (tomorrow) for the safety of students and educators.

The Rawalpindi education board also cancelled Class 9 examination papers scheduled for May 11 and 12 until further orders.

Prior to the decisions, the caretaker Punjab government announced the closure of colleges and universities across the province for two days due to deteriorated law and order situation.
